Utah Tech Labs Powers HoMedics SereneScent™, a Unified App Bringing Seven Diffuser Models Onto One Connected Platform

Salt Lake City, UT - August 2026 Utah Tech Labs has delivered the HoMedics SereneScent™

Salt Lake City, UT - August 2026 Utah Tech Labs has delivered the HoMedics SereneScent™ mobile app, a single iOS and Android platform that unifies control of HoMedics' entire waterless diffuser lineup — spanning two hardware vendors, three chipset architectures, and both corded and cordless product families.

SereneScent is HoMedics' waterless fragrance diffuser line, designed to bring a personalized scenting experience into the home without the maintenance of water-based diffusers. The lineup includes the ARMH-972, ARMH-973, and ARMH-974 (corded, single-diffuser models), the ARMH-680, ARMH-681 and ARMH-980 (battery-operated, single-diffuser models), and the newly launched ARMH-875 — HoMedics' first dual-diffuser, fully cordless, battery-powered device. Available now on the App Store and Google Play, the SereneScent app connects to each of these devices over Bluetooth, giving users control over fragrance intensity, scheduling, timers, ambient lighting, and multi-device management from a single interface.

The engineering challenge centred on hardware diversity rather than app design alone. Utah Tech Labs worked collaboratively with two separate hardware vendors supplying different generations of SereneScent devices, each built on its own chipset and Bluetooth firmware architecture. Reconciling these differences — while preserving one consistent app experience for the end user — meant building a flexible device-communication layer capable of detecting device type, negotiating the correct protocol, and exposing the right feature set per model, rather than hard-coding a single integration path.

The ARMH-875 introduced an additional layer of complexity. As HoMedics' first dual-diffuser, cordless device, it required the app to manage two independent scent chambers on a single battery-powered unit — including independent intensity control, synchronised or staggered scheduling between chambers, and battery-aware power management not present in the corded ARMH-972/973/974 family or the single-diffuser ARMH-680/681. The team designed the app's device layer to scale cleanly across this range, from simple corded single-diffusers to the more complex dual-chamber cordless unit, without fragmenting the codebase per SKU.

Beyond protocol integration, the app was built to give users a consistent, premium control experience regardless of which SereneScent device they own — real-time fragrance intensity adjustment, custom scheduling and timers, ambient lighting control on supported models, and the ability to manage multiple diffusers across a home from one account. The app also links directly to HoMedics' curated fragrance oil catalogue, connecting the hardware experience to HoMedics' broader SereneScent product ecosystem.

"Every hardware vendor speaks a slightly different language at the firmware level," said Shovanik. "Our job was to make sure none of that complexity ever reached the end user — someone should be able to unbox any SereneScent device, pair it in seconds, and get the same clean experience, whether it's a plug-in single diffuser or the new dual-chamber cordless model."

The HoMedics SereneScent app is available now for iOS and Android.
